EMG is one of the technological leaders in the pickup industry, manufacturing guitar and bass pickups together with related accessories. EMG got their first business license under the name of Dirtywork Studios in April 1976. In 1983 they became EMG, Inc. and haven't looked back. Through all the company name changes the pickups were always known as EMG Pickups. EMG stands for Electro-Magnetic Generator.
