ESP LTD Horizon CTM '87 Black Electric guitar

While ESP first got started in 1975 as a small repair shop in Tokyo, it was really toward the mid ‘80s when our guitars and basses grabbed the attention of players around the world. The Horizon Custom ’87 takes the amazing archtop body of the ESP Horizon, and offers it exactly as you’d have found it in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s… minimally adorned and built to shred! This guitar offers neck-thru-body construction at 25.5” scale for intense sustain, pairing an alder body and an extra-thin three-piece maple neck. The Horizon Custom ’87 features a Macassar ebony fingerboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets and no inlays; side position dots help you find your way. Its components include a Floyd Rose 1000 double-locking tremolo, a Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker in the bridge, and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the neck position. Coil splitting for single-coil tones on either or both pickups is available via push-pull controls on the volume and tone knobs.

Neck

Neck: Maple

Maple is known for its strength and stability, making it ideal for necks that need to resist bending and warping.

Pickups Configuration

Pickups Configuration: HS

The humbucker-single-coil configuration means that the guitar is equipped with one humbucker pickup and one single-coil pickup. This setup offers a combination of powerful, full tone from the humbucker and bright, crisp sound from the single-coil, providing versatility for a wide range of musical styles.

Body: Alder

Alder is a medium-weight wood that produces a well-balanced tone with a strong mid-range, bright highs and moderate bass. It is known for its warm and full sound, making it a versatile material for a variety of musical styles.

Fretboard: Macassar Ebony

Macassar ebony is a hard, dense wood with a distinctive striped pattern in shades of black and brown. It offers a clear, crisp tone with excellent response and sustain. The Macassar ebony fingerboard is valued for its luxurious appearance and durability. This contributes to the precise playability and longevity of the instrument.

Finish: Polished

The glossy finish gives any surface an elegant and luxurious look. This type of finish is achieved by applying several layers of lacquer or resin, which are then polished to a high gloss. This provides a smooth, reflective finish, enhancing color and structure of substrate. The glossy finish not only improves aesthetics, but also protects against dust, moisture and minor scratches.

Тype: Superstrat

The Superstrat is a type of electric guitar based on the design of the Stratocaster, but modified for a more aggressive style of playing, especially in the hard rock and metal genres. It has a solid body, often with powerful humbucker pickups for a more powerful and distorted sound. Superstrat guitars often have an improved tremolo system (like the Floyd Rose) and a faster neck for technical playing. This type of guitar is designed for the modern guitarist who demands more versatility and performance.
