Djembe is a traditional African musical instrument that is handmade. The surface of the drum is made of goat skin and the base is made of solid carved wood surrounded by smooth or braided rope. Some have designs carved into the base as well as a fabric trim on top. These drums are popular in reggae and other cultural music productions. In West Africa, almost all ceremonies are accompanied by the timeless and distinctive melody of djembe drums.
